Crème Brule French Toast

 

1 Stick unsalted butter

1 C. Brown sugar

2 T. Light corn syrup

8-9" round bread or sweet bread (I used Texas Toast bread)

5 Large eggs

1 1/2 C. Half & Half

1 t. vanilla

1/4 t. salt

In a small saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring until smooth.

Pour into a 13x9x2 dish.

Cut 6 one inch slices, trim crust (I don't). Arrange in one layer.

In a bowl whisk remaining ingredients and pour over bread.

Cover and set overnight in the refrigerator.

Bake at 350 uncovered for 35-40 minutes.

Best to serve with fruit or lots of coffee. Very yummy!
